The position will focus on the both the interaction and visual design of user interfaces of digital collection products developed by OCLC.

This position will require close collaboration with product management, information managers, and developers. The individual will be responsible for analyzing, creating, and communicating user workflows, wireframes, visual design treatments, site navigation and architecture, and user interface requirements based on a deep understanding of user needs and tasks gained through user feedback and usability testing and analysis

Senior User Experience Specialist
Location: US-Natick MA

Job Summary:
You will be responsible for leading user-centered design activities related to MathWorks products and/or Web applications. You will work with development teams to understand their projects’ user-centered design requirements, and develop creative solutions for meeting those needs.

Responsibilities:
• Make recommendations to team members about which usability methods to use to answer their questions about users and design directions based on projects’ needs, goals and constraints.
• Work closely with team members to conduct user research, identify pain points, develop user profiles and create task lists.
• Contribute to requirements and design documents.
• Help the development team follow a user-centered design approach as you work collaboratively to brainstorm and design innovative solutions to complex problems.
• Collaborate on paper and functional prototypes.
• Run usability tests, conduct interviews and site visits, organize surveys, and perform other usability assessments you think are appropriate.
• Help the team interpret and understand user feedback, and provide input for design decisions based on that feedback.

Qualifications:
• BA, BS, or MA in cognitive psychology, human factors, or related field, or equivalent experience
• 4-8 years as a usability engineer in software design and development
• Direct experience with a variety of usability methods
• Strong leadership skills
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to balance needs of a large number of concurrent projects and work effectively with cross-functional teams

Sr. Usability Analyst:
The position is responsible for:
• Independently partnering with multiple internal clients to plan and execute user-centered design engagements
• Effectively and efficiently execute user-centered design methods, such as heuristic reviews, usability analysis, usability test, card-sort, focus group facilitation
• Effectively present analysis and recommendations to clients, key stakeholders, and senior management
• Communicate findings and best practices with fellow analysts and visual designers
• Act as a leading usability advocate for the firm; hosting forums, driving internal communities

Qualifications:
• Bachelors degree (Masters preferred) in Human Computer Interaction, Interaction/Interface Design, or equivalent experience
• 7+ years proven professional experience as usability analyst, information architect or interaction designer (or equivalent) supporting software or web applications
• Strong understanding of software/web development project lifecycle and technologies

Primary responsibilities:
• Evangelize the user experience process and train functional areas and teams in user experience techniques. Track user experience metrics to demonstrate a return on investment.
